Dorms Completely co-ed with two womens and two men's bathrooms on each of the seven floors. Three showers, three stalls and three sinks per bathroom. One lounge/common room with couches and a TV on each floor as well. All of our rooms are double occupancy (2 people live in each room). Each room is equipped with 2 beds (frame and mattress), 2 desks (with attached bookcase/hutch), 2 desk chairs, 2 dressers, 2 closets, a wastebasket, 2 study lights (in the desk unit) and 2 mirrors.
Classes From Agriculture to Zoology, Opposite Ella's got it all. Three buildings, Science, English/History and Arts. Everything you need to learn is available within walking distance from the dorms. Each structure is built of five floors with an observatory and planetarium added onto the Science building.

Athletics With a state of the art Olympic sized swimming pool to a high tech weight room, Opposite Ella puts a lot of time, money and effort into its athletic buildings. Tennis courts, a football field with retractile dome, real grass and a track field to even a gymnastics room and multiple basketball courts, anything you need for athletic business is here.

Student Union Food court, convenience store, library, recreation room, you name it, its here. From the average computer lab to a pool tables and any and every organization on campus in between, its most famous organizations are 93.7 X-Jet school radio and the Quill, Opposite Ella's very own newspaper.
Grounds Located on a beautiful, 380 acre campus, Opposite Ella has a wide variety of scenic locations, including grassy fields and a 100 acre forest area. Students are encouraged to spend as much time as possible outside on the few sunny days they’ll get in the rainy, storm-tossed Pacific Northwest weather.
Apple Orchard In the fall come by to pick your own apples in the student run orchard. Growing Cameo, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Breaburn and Gala varieties of apple.
Beach If you follow the little dirt road that leads away from campus, you will soon come upon a lovely stretch of beach, comprised of fine, dark gray sand. Facing the West, OE’s beachfront is spared the worst of the sea’s squalls, and offers a lovely place to sit and watch the sun set, or to have a beach party on those warm final few days of school before summer.
Boat Rentals 16' and 14' power boats and a 22' sailboat available for 1/2 day or full day rentals. Great for fishing, wildlife sightseeing or just exploring the islands. Must be 21 to rent with a valid ID. Orcas Boat Rentals has been operating out of Deer Harbor Marina for 11 years. Located on the sunny West Side of Orcas Island, Deer Harbor is truly in the heart of the San Juan Islands.

Bike Paths Orcas is a favorite Northwest destination for cyclists. More than 50 miles of public roadways loop through the orchards and valleys of the island's interior, and scenic views from the shoreline lie at the end of almost every route. The rugged terrain of Orcas makes it popular among cyclists who enjoy a challenging ride. Mount Constitution rises 2,407 feet above sea level, making it the highest point in the San Juans, and riders who tackle the steep road leading to the summit will be rewarded with stunning views of the San Juan Islands as well as the Gulf Islands in nearby British Columbia.

Moran State Park Moran State Park is a 5,252-acre camping park with five freshwater lakes and over 30 miles of hiking trails. Atop the 2,409-foot-high Mt. Constitution, the highest point on the San Juan Islands, there stands a stone observation tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936. The tower offers panoramic views of the surrounding islands, the Cascade Mountains and a variety of Canadian and American cities.

We specialize in dive trips throughout the San Juan Islands region on our two custom dive boats. Our dive sites include spectacular walls, rocky reefs and pinnacles, big wrecks, and marine preserves. Orcas Pottery Make something of your own or take home something thats already made. The pottery is displayed in many different places: on stumps, on railroad ties, on driftwood, and picnic tables, in an old log cabin, and along the fence. It's a treasure hunt, and takes a good half hour to see everything once.

Sea Kayaking We offer kayak rentals in addition to our guided tours. Although you can't go as far with our rental kayaks as you would on our tour, they are a great way to get out on the water and explore the shores of our bay. We have both sit-on-top and sit-in kayaks. We also have a small fleet of canoes for rent.

Shopping Center You won’t find any of those familiar upscale department stores on the island, nor will you see any big-box discount venues. Shopping on Orcas often consists of browsing through homegrown, island-made merchandise. Of course you can always find the ubiquitous T-shirt with local sayings or images, local cookbooks, photos, pottery, music, books, clothing and a wide variety of other island-related items. A fabulous gift for a friend or special occasion or holiday is close at hand in any of the shops within the quaint hamlets or in one of the many retail stores in historic buildings nestled in their private settings sprinkled around the island.
